On June 26th, 2017, Steven Kempf Building Materials called for service on truck number 29, one of its Fassi Boom trucks from V&H Trucks. The FASSI F360SE crane on this truck, used to deliver wallboard to customers throughout the Tri-State area, developed a problem with its crane that prevented it from operating. Steven Kempf Building Materials, founded in 1994, has several trucks that are purpose-built for delivering materials to job sites.
Upon inspection of the truck, Excel Hydraulics’ team of certified repair experts found that the base bearing on the crane was out of factory tolerance. To repair the base bearing, Excel’s technicians completely disconnected the crane and removed it and the base from the truck. All the other bearings and components on the crane were also removed and inspected for damage.
The crane was reinstalled with an OEM replacement bearing from Fascan International. In addition to replacing the base bearing, we also removed the cylinder extension pack and rebuilt each cylinder back to factory specifications, with new seals and parts. To complete the repair, we replaced all the normal wear items, including the wear pads for the outrigger beams and various bushings throughout the crane.
Once the repair was completed, Excel’s certified crane inspector re-certified the crane and delivered the completed crane and truck to Steven Kempf on time and under budget.
